Hello, I’m Thessali! Welcome to Down in the Hollow! Pull up a rocking chair, pour yourself a mint julep and then sit and stay a spell.
My hope is that this blog can be a space to inspire people from all walks of life to enjoy every day vividly and joyously. When you visit Down in the Hollow, you’ll encounter a wide range of topics spanning anywhere from fashion and home decor to travel guides to chicken keeping and home made fruit preserves.
My style is inspired by a handful of icons: Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Lilly Pulitzer, Jackie O and of course…Blair Waldorf. “Waldorf” was the nickname on the back of my intramural t-shirt in college and not only have I seen every episode of every season a few times, I jumped on the Gossip Girl train from the very beginning when the books came out. I remember checking them out at my high school library and falling deeply in love. I grew up shopping with my mom (who is still the only person I’ll shop with) and on countless occasions I’d walk out of the dressing room to her saying, “That’s not Audrey Hepburn enough.” So, needless to say, I was raised by a Southern Belle and I am very much a reflection of her. You will rarely see basic styles on this blog – I’ve never been very good at simplicity. I love classic, timeless pieces that remind me of Old Hollywood, but I also like to jazz things up. If it’s wild colors, fun prints, has bows and tasteful embellishments… it’s going in my closet. I also take a lot of inspiration from the carefree and deliciously preppy styles of the North East Coast. Over time I have carefully and lovingly curated a wardrobe that makes me giddy every time I run my hands across the materials as I pick out something to wear for the day.
Now that you know a bit about my style and vision for this blog, head on over to my first post to read 20 Things To Know About Thessali. I hope it helps give you a sense of who I am as I think everyone should really get a feel of the girl behind the blog.
In such a saturated market of fashion and lifestyle blogging, I’m so happy you found yourself here! I hope it brings you as much joy as it does me! Cheers!
