This is our third year doing Christmas cards as a married couple, although we’ve been married for four years. Believe it or not one year we just forgot to get them done! Our previous two photo shoots were on our home’s front steps and at the University of Oklahoma campus. My husband graduated undergrad there and I had just finished up my graduate degree there so it seemed appropriate. Plus OU colors are crimson and cream and so we already had color scheme on our side for Christmas cards. This year we chose the Civic Center in downtown OKC. We love going there for plays, musicals, ballets and concerts plus it’s just a nice, big white structure that does nicely as a backdrop for Christmas colors we wanted to pop against it.
Locations aside, though…because obviously that’s not what you’re here for unless you live in OKC and you’re reading this blog for photo shoot location ideas. Let’s talk outfits.
My secret weapon for a lot of events, whether that’s photo shoots, black tie galas, parties, weddings, etc. is Rent the Runway. I’ve rented countless time from Rent the Runway for special occasion outfits. If I were to go shopping for this stuff, I’d literally have stacked up dozens of dresses by now. I figure it’s wasteful to buy when I know I’m only going to wear it once. But perhaps the best reason to rent from Rent the Runway is that you get to wear designer things and only pay a small amount to do so. Ex: $300, $500, $700…$1,000+….all rentable. While we all know designer labels can have tricky sizing, the good news is that RTR allows customers to post reviews with pictures so you can read other women’s height/weight along with their opinions of the clothes and look at how they looked in the item you’re interested in. This is SO helpful to see women with similar body types to me and figure out which outfit would work best.
BTW…I have not partnered with Rent the Runway for this blog post. I’m receiving zero compensation from RTR. For this post I’m just sharing about something that I love, that I use and that I would recommend to others.
Here are a few snaps from our Christmas photo shoot followed by 15 of my favorite Christmas card outfit picks from Rent the Runway. All of these were on my favorites list, but in the end I decided to go with the Adelyn Rae green velvet jumpsuit!

You can shop my whole outfit (along with two alternate green velvet jumpsuits below!
