Banana Republic Date Night Outfit

February 12, 2020

A few weeks ago on my Shopping Guide I posted this dress. Fast forward to last week. I was having sort of a down-in-the-dumps kind of day and so to cheer me up, my husband left work for an extended lunch break and took me to the mall to do some shopping…yeah, did you just melt like a little ice cube? Because you should have.

Anyway, sometimes sadness can consume me to the point where even shopping becomes not so exciting anymore. And unfortunately, it was just one of those days. So after going to several different stores and striking out because nothing just jumped off the rack to me in my mopey little mood, we were just about to walk out of Banana Republic when something tucked wayyy back in a corner, just hanging out in the back of a rolling rack caught my eye. It was this dress. And as much as I had loved it online when I previously posted it on the Shopping Guide, it was so much better in person.

Online it looked like a goldenish yellow, but in person it was a rich caramel that looked like it just spilled right out of the center of some chocolate. Plus, it was 40% off, plus 10% more with our Banana Republic card.

Purchasing this dress, gobbling down some bourbon chicken at Cajun Cafe in the food court and also grabbing some new wine glasses at Muse (plus spending time in the middle of the day with my bae) did the trick for my bad day and turned it all around.

So I actually wound up going home and putting it on immediately to wear that same night for date night to go see Come From Away at the Civic Center. I paired it with barely-there strappy cork heels (I’ve linked some similar), those cult following earrings that are sprouting up everywhere you look that I found for under $10 and an incredible hair accessory that pulled the whole look together. 2020 has slammed us to the floor, kicked us while 2020 has slammed us to the floor, kicked us while we’re down, robbed us of our joy, taken away our normalcy, thrown wedges in our plans, taken us to the cleaners, cracked us, smacked us, choked us and broke us. But after 365 days of absolute trash...2020 has been served its eviction notice. We don’t know what 2021 will hold but I think we’ve all learned many, many things to take with us. We will be forever changed by this year; as individuals, families, neighbors, states, countries and collectively in our global community. Let us make sure that change is positive. Let’s turn the page and press forward. Cheers, my friends. Happy New Years.
