I don’t often fall for trend-of-the-moment fashion. In fact, I could write a much longer post on the trends I hate (those huge clips you’re seeing every Blogger buy for $12 on Amazon and wear….noooo ma’am).
However, there’s a few I can get behind and when that happens, I want to be able to blog about it! From someone who wears mostly classic silhouettes and timeless styles, here are two trends I can endorse and get behind: drop waist dresses and beaded Mignonne-style earrings. I’m loving them. Drop waists always remind me of Coco Chanel and Paris in the 20’s, but it also reminds me of a specific dress. When I was in high school in England, my mom took me shopping for a dress to wear for my graduation ceremony. We went into London and I searched high and low. The one I found was from Zara and it was black and white striped with a drop waist and at that time, it wasn’t a trend – Zara just happened to make that silhouette that year and I was obsessed. I wore it with black heels and strings of faux pearls under my royal blue graduation gown, but man was I so proud of that dress. Something about a drop waist just makes me feel so whimsical and feminine. So when the trend hit the fashion world I had to join in. For this post I chose to do this pastel stripe dress I scored from Amazon (you read that RIGHT!) and bonus…it has large buttons tracing down the front that are wood print and so so cute.
Minette is a shop I recently discovered. They have a whole stock of amazing beaded earrings – and recently just started carrying palm leaves so you know I’ll be buying those as well. I bought the lemons and pink parrots and wanted to shoot them both with this dress. This is not a sponsored or paid ad for the shop, but if you do end up shopping on their site you can use the code IG10OFF for $10 off a purchase of $25 or more!!
And y’all, I’ve got to tell you, it’s like I’m walking sunshine everywhere I go in this outfit. Everyone has asked me where to buy this dress or if I’m headed out on vacation. The answer is no…but I definitely feel more light and carefree with this little number on!
Curious to know what your current trend obsessions or loathes are. Drop them in the comments, I might just be inspired to do a blog post based on what you say!
